About The Donut Dash @ Tradition

The Donut Dash @ Tradition was inspired by the Krispy Kreme Challenge @ NC State. Now, by popular demand, we're bringing our own version to The Pizzle!

The DD4k (The Sprint) was our initial goal, any Weekend Warrior can accomplish the task. The run will be 1 loop (2k) around Tradition Lake followed by a half a dozen signature donuts from the local and prestigious donut shop, Dixie Cream Donuts. Runners will finish with another loop around the lake.

The DD8k (The Ultra) provides the actual distances and number of donuts set forth in the original Krispy Kreme Challenge. The course will be 2 loops around the lake (4k), then a 1 dozen donut feast of fresh Dixie Cream donuts. Competitors will run to victory with another 2 loops around the lake.

Cost is $12 for the Sprint & $15 for the Ultra Distance. For our first annual event, we just want to cover the cost of materials. Any left over cash will be split between the top male and female finishers of the Ultra event… after all, this is a race!!!

What does the fee cover? Water, coffee, paper cups, and obviously…DONUTS! These will feed both our athletes and anxious volunteers.

How's this gonna work? Each participant will get his/her own box of donuts. Upon arriving in Transition, they will be escorted to their box and can begin eating as soon as they are ready. Tables will also have water & coffee available. Once their mid-race treats are gone, runners will head back out on the course to sprint to the finish line!

Prizes: Top Male & Female Ultra Distance winners will split what's left over from the entry fees, which will probably be good enough to buy another fresh donut or 2.

Who can race? Anyone! Just remember you're on your OWN. You assume responsibility for knowing your limits & there will be no support other than our volunteers.

Where' da Donuts comin' from? If you ask any locals where we the best donuts in town come from they'll all respond the same - Dixie Cream from the Fort! That's right, fresh donuts from the best shop in town. They've been in business for 50 years and for good reason! You won't need much water, they're MELT IN YOUR MOUTH good!!

What time? The air horn will go off at 7:00am. Depending on how many participants, we might send the Sprint first and Ultra after! Stay tuned...

Bathrooms? Nope... go potty on your own. Tradition bathrooms usually open around 8am (vague enough?). On top of that, the bathrooms may be fenced in due to "Little Italy Festival". So MAKE SURE you do "your business" before showing up!
